Let there be light!
Light therapy is one of my top treatments to do in my skincare studio. Why? It's an all natural way to fight aging, acne, and pain. Let's discuss light therapy and why you're missing out if you've never had it before.
In my studio I offer two different light therapy tools. One is the lightstim, a handheld device that allows my clients to experience the benefits of light therapy at home at a very affordable price. The second and my favorite is my Celluma panel. It provides an intense light therapy that's hands-free, super relaxing, and delivers stellar results! Both devices are FDA approved to provide improvement in aging and acne. The Celluma is also FDA approved to provide pain relief, reduced inflammation, and increased healing time.
So how does it work?
Light therapy uses particular wavelengths to stimulate our cells. When our cells absorb this light it converts them into a type of energy called adensine triphosphate (ATP). This heightened level of ATP stimualates a wide range of metabolic processes to enhance the cells performance.
Is it painful?
Not at all. It is a little bright and you will be provided with some goggles to help shield the powerful LED light. This treatment is usually very relaxing. I almost always fall asleep everytime I do light therapy.
How does it help with aging?
Light therapy increases collagen and elastin production to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also works to improve the firmness and resilience in the skin.
How does it help with acne?
Light therapy helps to kill off acne bacteria on the skin which aids in the clearing process. It also helps to restore the skin's healthy appearance that acne sufferers struggle to have. This treatment is not meant to replace good homecare routines and lifestyle habits but instead meant to aid in the clearing process.
How does it help with pain?
Although Flourish Skincare Studio does not focus on pain management treatments, the Celluma is an excellent add-on treatment if you are a pain sufferer to help make treatments more relaxing. The Celluma pain setting can be used to reduce inflammation and increase circulation which leads to increased healing. It is great for arthritis sufferers or those with muscle and joint pain. The light helps to reduce stiffness and muscle spasms as well.
Is there anyone that should avoid light therapy treatments?
While light therapy is beneficial for many there are some that may not qualify for a treatment. Those who are pregnant or nursing should have a Drs. release form before starting treatments. A Drs. release is also needed for anyone with a history of epilepsy. Anyone taking medications making them photosensitive would not be able to use light therapy. Anyone undergoing treatment for cancer would also not be a good candidate for light therapy. If you are wondering if light therapy treatments would be beneficial for you schedule a complimentary consultation at Flourish or call 317-300-4990.
How long before I see results?
Many times you can notice results immediately after a treatment. However, light therapy is best when done in a series of treatments. To see optimal results it is suggested that you come in 3 times a week for a month. After that once a month maitenence appointments are suggested.
