What is dermaplaning?
Yes that is a scalpel in the picture! I know what you're thinking. "I didn't schedule for plastic surgery. There is no way that thing is coming near my face!" At least that's along the lines of what I was thinking when I was about to receive my first dermaplane treatment. It's honestly not as scary as it looks or sounds and I would love the opportunity to prove it to you. So hopefully when you finish reading this post you'll be ready to schedule your first dermaplane facial.
What is is?
Dermaplaning uses a small blade to gently and painlessly remove dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. And bonus, it also removes the fine vellus hair from your face as well! This results in a super smooth, glowing complexion.
Does it hurt?
Not as all! But remember there is a blade involved, so no sudden movements should be made without warning your technician.
Why should I get dermaplaning done?
There are so many benefits to this treatment. Exfoliation is a necessary step in healthy skin function so it provides that. Also when the dead skin is removed your skin is not only smoother but your facial products work better. Many women love how their makeup goes on after a treatment because there is no light facial hair emphasizing the makeup sitting on your skin. Dermaplaning is a fantastic treatment to get before big events too.
Is there anyone who shouldn't get dermaplaning done?
Yes, like any treatment there are precautions. Dermaplaning is not for men...sorry guys! It is not for anyone who has any active acne breakouts especially cystic acne lesions. It cannot be done on any cancer treatment patients. To know if you are a good candidate contact Flourish.
How long does this treatment take?
Dermaplaning takes about 20 minutes on top of whatever facial you may already be receiving.
Is there downtime after receiving a treatment?
Absolutely not! Extremely sensitive clients may experience some pinkness afterwards. Most receiving this treatment will want to go out and show everyone your glowing complexion immediately afterwards! Just like any type of exfoliation treatment, sun exposure should be limited afterwards. Always make sure to wear your sunscreen.
How often can I dermaplane?
I recommend every 4 weeks for a treatment.
I hope this allays some of your fears. If you still have more questions feel free to contact Amanda at Flourish 317-691-2745. I look forward to offering you a great dermaplane facial soon!
